Well, Govan...if we are to die today let us die like men-Patrick Ronayne Cleburne

Where this division defended, no odds broke its lines; where it attacked, no numbers resisted its onslaught, save only once-there is the grave of Cleburne and his heroic division.-William J. Hardee

On the 10:00 news they showed the beginning of the demolition of the Pizza Hut that sits on the site of Cleburne's death.

One Spook

That's it. On Halloween night I had a grand total of one single solitary spook.
I spent at least eleven Federal Reserve Notes on candy and now have a big bowl
full left over to cause my bluejeans to shrink over the next few weeks.

Just be sure to take Howard Dean with you...

In what was billed the first secession convention since North Carolina on 20 May, 1861, a group of about 100 disgruntled Vermont residents held a meeting to discuss secession at the Vermont State House. Their website is located at:
Vermont Republic
It wasn't that long ago that the town of Killington
proposed seceding from Vermont and becoming part of New Hampshire because of an unfair
tax burden placed on the town.
However unlikely it is to actually occur, we wouldn't have to remove Vermont's
star from the flag if the effort in Northern California and Oregon to create the
State of Jefferson became a reality.

Democrats are A-OK with racist attacks...

The Washington Times reports:

Black Democratic leaders in Maryland say that racially tinged attacks against Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele in his bid for the U.S. Senate are fair because he is a conservative Republican.
Such attacks against the first black man to win a statewide election in Maryland include pelting him with Oreo cookies during a campaign appearance, calling him an "Uncle Tom" and depicting him as a black-faced minstrel on a liberal Web log.
Operatives for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) also obtained a copy of his credit report -- the only Republican candidate so targeted.
But black Democrats say there is nothing wrong with "pointing out the obvious."

Vice-President Cheney and Congresscritter Charlie Rangel (D-NY) have had a war of words the past couple of months, had Cheney used any of these type of tactics against Rangel...imagine the firestorm the media would have created.

"MACHINE GUN SAMMY"...

The "Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence" (formerly known as Handgun Control Inc.)
christened
Samuel Alito as "Machine Gun Sammy". I was already pleased with the nomination, now knowing that the "Brady Bunch" opposes his views on gun control, I couldn't be happier.

A Democrat President once said...

To the victor go the spoils.
Following the Harriet Miers debacle, President Bush has nominated conservative Samuel Alito to fill the seat of retiring Sandra Day O'Connor. Conservatives are thrilled, liberals are not amused.

Obstructing the Justice

Democrats
are already trying to postpone hearings until next year and are threatening to filibuster the nomination. If that happens...Nuke the B@$t@rd$.
